“의사의 진찰 받기 위해 예약하다”
예약하다? reservation이란 단어가 팍 떠오르시나요?
또~잉. 이 소리가 무슨 소리인지 기억나시죠?
reservation은 공간을 확보하는 개념으로 생각하면 좋아요.
식당, 호텔, 비행기, 기차, 극장표 등. booking으로 표현되기도 해요.
식당에 전화를 걸어 예약할 경우,
I'd like to make a reservation for two people for tonight.
appointment는 만날 약속의 의미예요.
의사를 만나러 갈 때, 면접 등에 두루두루 쓰여요.
Receptionist: Dr. Jung’s office. How may I help you?
Erin: Hi, I’d like to make an appointment with Dr. Jung.
Receptionist: May I have your policy number?
Erin: 123-4567-89
Receptionist: Name and phone number, please?
Erin: Erin Lee. 425-123-4567
Receptionist: Date of birth? 6-18-1990
Receptionist: When do you want to see Dr. Jung?
Erin: Do you have any openings next Wednesday?
Receptionist: We have openings at 10:00 and 4:30.
Erin: 10 o’clock sounds good.

아시다시피, meeting은 회의 개념이 많은 단어.
monthly meeting, staff meeting, Scout Meeting
gathering은 좀 더 캐주얼하게 친교를 목적으로 만날 때.
family gathering.
친구와 만나거나 데이트할 때는 see를 많이 써요.
